Oklahoman: Gen Xers rise up as next wave of civic leaders guiding Oklahoma City's future aspirations

Oklahoma City, long guided by waves of corporate leaders, is seeing a new, younger generation lining up behind aging baby boomers and reshaping their community economically, culturally and philanthropically. Chad Richison, 51, Christian Kanady, 43, and Bob Funk Jr., 47, are among a growing number of Gen Xers (born between 1965 and 1980) who are taking Oklahoma City in a new direction where oil and gas is giving way to a new, more diverse economy.

U.S. Economic Development Administration Awards $35 million Grant to the Oklahoma Biotech Innovation Cluster

Today, President Biden will announce the Oklahoma Biotech Innovation Cluster as one of 21 winners of the $1 billion Build Back Better Regional Challenge, the most impactful regional economic development competition in decades. Funded by President Biden’s American Rescue Plan and administered by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA), the Regional Challenge is awarding approximately $35 million in grants to the Oklahoma Biotech Innovation Cluster, led by the Oklahoma City Economic Development Foundation, to expand the biotechnology industry in the Oklahoma City region.
